This is a large 20m dome made by pressed and bolted poles, not our geodesic nodes.  If a structure is to be permanent and not to be moved, then bolted frames can be useful for cost savings.  However, this fixing system significantly increases wear on the pole ends, which easily bend during construction.  Bolted frames of any size also have to be “pulled” into the air by an (expensive) crane.

At Lotus Domes UK we do have the tooling to manufacture bolted frames, and will do so when the best solution for customers.  We do recommend our engineered hubs for any dome where durability, mobility, and strength are important.
